Fireworks are very British tradition for Bonfire Night, the memory of the failed 'Gunpowder Plot' by Guy Fawkes whose effigies are often placed upon pyres across the UK. Fawkes worked in the nearby kitchens at Cowdray, and along with 9 others plotted to blow up the Houses of Parliament using barrels of gunpowder.
